Max is chasing a KAOS smuggler who is smuggling a parrot. After capturing the parrot, he is freed by his lawyer and Max follows the parrot to Kilmen's Pet Shop. Max discovers that the pet shop is home base for Melnick, the Smiling Killer. He, 99, and Fang head into the pet shop to try and capture Fang and the renegade parrot. KAOS is using the parrots to memorize secret information and then they smuggle the parrots out of the country. As Alan Peters points out, this episode marks the final appearance of Fang. A favorite scene of mine from this episode is the phone booth scene.

Melnick was named after Dan Melnick, a partner in Talent Associates, the production company of Get Smart.
