Comin' Round The Mountain

Read Reviews

A search for burried treasure sends Abbott & Costello into the backwoods while they create their usual havoc - this time, in the midst of a Winfield-McCoy feud.

Al (Bud Abbott) is a theatrical agent who books Manhattan Hillbilly Dorothy McCoy (Dorothy Shay) and escape artist, The Great Wilbert (Lou Costello) into the same nightclub. When Wilbert's act fizzles, his cries help attract Dorothy, who recognizes the McCoy clan yell. Indeed, Wilbert is a McCoy, and the only one to whom Granny McCoy (Ida Moore) will reveal yhe whereabouts of a fortune in gold.

All three hightail it to the Kentucky mountains, but Granny won't come through till Wilbert marries Dorothy - who prefers someone else. That needs a love potion to change her mind. And that means a visit to the local witch (Margret Hamilton). One of the film's highlights is a side-splitting sequence between Wilbert and the witch, stabbing clay effigies of each other with pins after he balks at paying for the potion ! The complications are many. The Winfields and McCoys are hopping mad. And the outcome of the treasure hunt is a masterpiece of comic surpries.
